Between September and December 2024, the Solar Universities network continued its online seminar series, bringing together students, researchers, and professionals from Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe to discuss key aspects of photovoltaic technologies and the energy transition.

The seminar on “The Role of Photovoltaics in Energy Transition” (19 September 2024) focused on the fundamental principles of PV systems and their contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening energy independence. Participants gained an overview of PV components, system properties, and recent technological developments.

On 24 October 2024, the seminar “Smart Grids and Green Initiatives” explored the integration of smart grid technologies into renewable energy systems. The session highlighted how real-time communication and digital solutions enhance grid stability and enable higher shares of solar and wind energy, while also showcasing sustainability initiatives implemented by universities in the region.

The year concluded with the 4th Solar Universities Online Seminar 2024, “Advanced PV System Calculations and Business Models” (19 December 2024). This seminar addressed advanced PV system design and optimization, international PV business models, green university initiatives, and academic opportunities in Germany, underlining the close link between technical education, economic viability, and international cooperation.

Together, these seminars strengthened academic exchange within the Solar Universities network and supported capacity building in photovoltaic technologies and sustainable energy systems.
